How many people can say they started the day off like Jack did — by delving into the mind and motives of Bellatrix Lestrange, one of the villains in the Harry Potter series? Read on for a peek into the Fictional Criminal Psychology Course and more on Jack's exciting first EXPLO summer.
What are you working on right now in Fictional Criminal Psychology?
I just drew a character called Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter. We're focusing on studying one criminal for the whole week. Today, we're making "Wanted" posters. I kind of just did my poster how they did it in the Harry Potter books and movies, and I mixed that with a normal "Wanted" poster. I wanted to choose someone who isn't just a criminal — she's also magical, so I thought it might be interesting to choose her.
What else have you done in this course so far?
We've been talking about psychology and mental disorders today. We got two villains, and we had to diagnose them with one of the mental disorders we learned about. We got Captain Hook and Gaston, and we diagnosed Captain Hook with PTSD, and for Gaston, we decided on narcissistic personality disorder.
Yesterday, we came up with the villains we wanted to study, and we wrote down all the important stuff that they did. Yesterday, we also took a Rorschach test — the pictures that you see something in, and that determines what you're like. We also took a personality test — the Myers-Briggs test — and I got INFJ. And then we also took it for our characters.
Why did you want to take Fictional Criminal Psychology?
I've never done any psychology before, but I thought it sounded really cool to learn about how criminals think.
Do you have a favorite moment from your first week at EXPLO?
Going to The Ville was really fun. We just kind of walked around — I didn't buy much, but I got a Starbucks drink and some hand sanitizer!
Anything else you'd like to share with the blog? Do you have any hidden talents or interests?
I can tap dance — I've been doing it for seven years!
