Meet Anita: Writer + Potato Lover

Meet Anita: she has already made a lot of friends here at EXPLO, and she loves the curly fries in the dining hall.

It's Anita's first summer here at EXPLO, and her longest time being at a sleep-away camp — and she loves it so far. The close friendships she has already made are one of her favorite parts about being on campus — well, that and the curly fries at the dining hall. Keep reading to find out more about her experience at EXPLO.

How has your day been?

It's been fun! I had my first Fashion Illustration elective today. We practiced drawing models on paper and how to get the proportions right. It's week two, so we have all new courses and electives. I'm taking creative writing now too. I really like it.

What was your favorite part of your day today?

We started to create our stories in creative writing — like started to piece stuff together. And that was fun because we have been doing idea generators. So it was cool to start to see things come together.

My story is a fantasy story. There's this character, and she's recruited for a job. She has to pose as a spy, and — well, I haven't figured it all out yet. But, there's some sort of curse. I really like spies and heists and things.

How is your second week compared to last week?

I'm feeling more in tune than last week. Last week was kind of like — woah — everything just started. But, I've met a lot of cool people and I'm enjoying the classes. It's definitely feeling more normal than it did last week when I was just getting used to stuff. There's more of a routine now — I know where I'm supposed to go, I know the campus better, I know the people a lot better.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Something potato-based — just like, all forms of potatoes — fries, mashed potatoes, but not sweet potatoes. Maybe that's not the best choice, but they are technically a vegetable, so...
