Adan is 13 years old and as a saxophone player he loves the improvisational nature of jazz music.
I’m interested in playing music. I play guitar and saxophone. I’ve been playing for a couple of years now, since I decided to join the school band because a lot of my friends were in it. So I thought, why not? When I started playing saxophone I realized that I really like it. It varies a lot what we play in the school band. Sometimes we do pop, sometimes we do marching music. But besides that I really enjoy playing blues music or jazz because I like improvising.
Jazz is great because there are so many things going on at once and the music or the rhythm can change very suddenly at any time and that makes it interesting. I like playing music because it calms you down; it just helps you to get lost. I hope that I can tie myself with music in the future, also. It’s probably not going to be my main job, but I definitely want to continue playing. I don’t really know yet what is my dream job because right now I just want to focus on myself and getting better at things that I enjoy. And then, when I’m older, I will probably have a better idea what I want to do for a living.
I didn’t actually expect EXPLO do be this much fun. It definitely beat my expectations about it! It went by so quickly. I’m really sad that it’s going to be over. One thing I learned here at EXPLO is that it’s actually not that hard to make friends — all you need to do is to just start talking with someone and then you usually find a common interest pretty quickly.
