In her third summer at Explo, this Explo at Wellesley Student Ambassador hopes to inspire others to learn to be themselves and grab every single opportunity they have to do what they're passionate about. This summer, Alison is excited to continue taking classes to hone her acting and theater skills, with the hope of becoming a performer when she grows up. We certainly give her a round of applause for her inspirational attitude!

If I could give one piece of advice to new Explo students, I would say, don't be afraid to step out of your shell. No one judges you here... it's a completely judgement-free zone. For me, when I first came to Explo, I was very shy, but Explo really breaks you out of your shell. Which has been really, really helpful, because my dream is being on the stage.

When I grow up, I would love to be a performer — either an actor or be on Broadway. Last summer, I took musical theater and acting classes at Explo. My instructor really taught us different stage exercises to build our own character in the roles we performed. That's what Explo is all about; trying to make us be better people and be comfortable with being ourselves. Explo really made me who I am today because I now feel comfortable with who I am on stage and off the stage with my peers.
