Meet Sasha from Massachussetts

Sasha's first summer at EXPLO has been an exciting flurry of challenges, successes, and learning. Sasha has many passions, but when it comes to Sasha's future, this Panic! At the Disco fan just wants to help people.

Sasha's first summer at EXPLO has been an exciting flurry of challenges, successes, and learning. Sasha has many passions, but when it comes to Sasha's future, this Panic! At the Disco fan just wants to help people.

My biggest success since arriving at EXPLO has been the pig dissection we did in my Medical Careers course. It was super gory, but so fun, too. I never thought I'd be able to do something like that. I also learned about knife safety in my Wilderness Survival class, which was great because those are real, serious skills. My instructors work hard to make everything we do super engaging. They make everything fun, and very different than anything we do in school.

My biggest challenge since arriving at EXPLO has been pushing myself to make new friends. At home, I've been friends with the same group of people for so long. When I came here, I was scared to have to make new friends, but it wasn't scary at all. Branching out and connecting with people from all over the world has been so cool.

My favorite thing about myself is my cultural background. I'm half Indian, which is something not everyone knows about me. I have a lot of interesting stories about my family and culture, which I think is cool.

Someone I look up to is Brendon Urie, the lead singer of Panic! At the Disco. He's so flamboyant! He doesn't care what people think of him — he just is himself, all the time. He's also an incredible singer.

I want to be a surgeon in the forces when I grow up. I've always wanted to serve in the forces, but I didn't know how exactly. I started learning about surgeons who work in the field, and I discovered that I could help people in the forces without hurting anyone.
