Six-weeker Eric has now had four courses, six workshops, and tons of fun this summer. As his final week begins, he's looking back on some signature EXPLO experiences — from trips to the Vil to learning to do his laundry!
This is my sixth week of being here! I've been here for so long that I feel...normal! I feel like this is my new home. I've gotten used to how everything works. I think I have a slightly different perspective than the other students here; people ask me a lot of questions about how things work and stuff. I kind of get to be a leader. I get to help people.
My favorite part of the day is I-Time because you get to sort of catch up with your friends after courses and do what you want. Sometimes I play games with friends at the Board Game Studio, sometimes I read, and sometimes I just walk around. It's just a good time to be with people and enjoy your time at EXPLO.
EXPLO has taught me how to be independent. We get a lot of freedom here, so you learn how to be responsible for yourself. For example, we're allowed to go to the Vil and walk around and spend money. One of my biggest successes this summer was learning how to do my laundry. It was harder than I thought!
I took Fundamentals of Digital Film Production, Forensic Science, Video Game Level Design, and Espionage + Deductive Reasoning. They're all very different courses about very different things, but I loved them all. What I love most about EXPLO is that there's something for everyone here. Whatever you're interested in, you'll find it at EXPLO. You'll have important experiences here that teach you life lessons.
