Meet Fin from Georgia

Fin from Georgia gives final thoughts on Explo

Ally Marcino

Now that the first session here at Explo at Wellesley is coming to a close, Fin not only has some reflective thoughts about this summer, but tons of excitement for the next one.

I’ve had a really good time here. I really want to come back next year. I loved meeting new people, and all of the classes and workshops were a lot of fun. I got to take Sailing, Intro to Acoustic Guitar, Graffiti Art, Aeronautical Engineering, and Mind Bind! I want coming back to Explo to be my Christmas present! It’s just so much fun. Explo is a gift in itself. I love to get involved in a lot of different things, so this was my sample year. I got involved in stuff to know what I want to do next year. I really want to do Mind Bind and Sailing again. I don’t get to do things like that at home. It’s unique to Explo.

The Explo environment is much more friendly than the school environment. It’s much less restrictive and more independent. It’s easier to work with everyone, and of course, a lot more fun! The instructors make it very hands-on. Like in Mind Bind, we learned card tricks for misdirection, and in Aeronautical Engineering, we built giant two-foot rockets that we flew yesterday!

My final thoughts are that I just definitely want to come back next year. Now I have a really good insight on what I want to do when I come back. If I come back next year, I want to take more photography classes. My dad is a photographer. He’s really good at what he does. When he gets a new camera, he passes down the old one. So, I get to experiment and it seems like it would be a really fun career! It’s something I have to look forward to next summer.
