Those who stopped by the hula hooping challenge at our Fourth of July Field Day are sure to have seen Caroline hula hooping her way to a landslide victory. When I first stumbled across Caroline, she had already been hula hooping for an astounding fourteen minutes, cheered on by a hoard of supporters. And she wasn't even close to being done.
Not only had she kept her hoop in motion for that long, but she had also been given additional challenge after additional challenge, from spinning herself around in a circle while keeping her hoop moving to walking all the way around the field. Yet, no task proved too difficult for Caroline.
Please enjoy what I believe to be EXPLO's first Conversation-While-Hula-Hooping. I'll be speaking with the judges about awarding Caroline some extra points for this above-and-beyond feat. And, pro tip: you should probably keep an eye out for Caroline in the Guinness Book of World Records one of these days!
Can you tell me what you're doing right now?
I'm hula hooping for Field Day, where we do a bunch of different competitions to win house points.
How many minutes have you been hula hooping for at this point?
I think something like fifteen minutes now?
Have you had a lot of previous hula hooping experience?
Yes — I used to hula hoop at recess during elementary school, and I'd do it for the entire recess period, which was probably around 30 minutes.
And which house are you representing here at Field Day?
I'm trying to win points for my house, which is Comet house. Comet pride!
