Meet Abbie from New York

Acting doesn't just run in Abbie's blood — it's in her heart and soul. Playing different characters helps her be more empathetic and considerate of others' experiences as she explores her own strengths and interests.

My hobbies include writing music, singing, and also playing the guitar — but I pick up a new hobby everyday, if I am being honest. One day I will be rollerblading and the next I will be working on knitting a sweater — which I completed, by the way!

The world has always been a place I believe to have so many different things to try. I live by the mantra, "if you can do it, why not?" There is so much that the world offers to us and we really need to start seizing those opportunities.

I would like to invest in my artistic talents in the future. My mom is an actress so it runs in the blood, but I also sincerely have a passion for acting. I always feel there is a certain beauty to the way in which one embodies a completely different character when they are acting. In order to do a good job with a role, you have to immerse yourself in that character, and what that tends to do for me is build empathy. When I embody the different roles I perform, I gain a new perspective each time and it allows me to be able to see the world through different lenses. People always say "put yourself in their shoes," and with acting, you get to do just that.
