Meet Alexandra from Conneticut

With a different look everyday on campus, Alexandra finds her ability to work with and play with makeup a source of confidence. This self-taught polymath has come back to EXPLO for a second time because she values the different perspectives and ideas that other students and instructors bring to the table.

Makeup can be a wonderful thing. It is an expression of art and I enjoy doing it. I can transform myself every day, and I find that the power to do that has given me a lot more confidence. I used to struggle with that, but makeup allowed me to overcome this challenge and walk out into the world with a brave face.

I have always liked makeup. When I was younger, I would go into my mom's room and play with her makeup as well as watching YouTube videos to teach myself how to do it effectively. I guess I could say I have always been that person who finds an interest and teaches myself more about it.

That is partially why I am here at EXPLO. I want to learn more about the things that I introduced myself to. Self-teaching is great and has many advantages to it, but hearing different perspectives and viewpoints is valuable in its own right. I am taking a Political Science class, a makeup class, and Applied Physics. Although random, these classes are all interests of mine and I am here to expand on my knowledge on the subject matter.
