The first time I heard about EXPLO was from my mom's friend. My mom encouraged me to go, but I was really not having it. I did not want to come to EXPLO at all because I had never been away from home. This place is really far and I was very attached to my home. But you know what? They are right when they say mother knows best, because I ended up loving it and I begged my mom to come back — and after two years, I am here once again!

I really am enjoying the courses I am taking here. They all have nothing to do with what I want to do in my future directly, but I am learning so much. I have never liked math or physics, but I wanted to be adventurous and so I chose Mechanical Engineering as a course. It definitely has been a learning curve for me, but I have also proved to myself that I am capable of learning brand new things and doing well at them.

I hope to go into Journalism in the future, specifically around activism. My Gender Politics and the Media course has helped me get the ball rolling with regards to that. I have a deeper and wider understanding of the issues surrounding gender politics, and now I feel I can be a more informed writer once I get out into the real world.
