Meet Ally from Massachussets + Erin from California

Ally and Erin are inspired by strong, independent women — not to mention each other. The new friends from opposite coasts are motivating each other to make the most of EXPLO, try new things, and foster an inclusive community on campus.

Ally and Erin are inspired by strong, independent women — not to mention each other. The new friends from opposite coasts are motivating each other to make the most of EXPLO, try new things, and foster an inclusive community on campus.

Ally: We met last week in our fencing workshop!

Erin: We were introduced to each other, and then I asked her to hang out during I-Time. We did, and now we're here!

Ally: My favorite thing about Erin is that she's really friendly. She's always introducing me to new people so I can make more friends. She's super adventurous, too; she puts herself out there and tries new things. And I think she's really smart.

Erin: My favorite thing about Ally is that she's inclusive. She wants everyone to feel happy and included. She's also very confident. She brings people up with her to make them feel confident, too.

Ally: I think we work as friends because she's fun to be around. And we're very compatible as people.

Erin: Yeah, we're similar — but not too similar — so it doesn't get boring. Plus, we both like fencing.

Ally: Someone I aspire to be like is Michelle Obama. She's a powerful, independent woman. I look up to her.

Erin: I agree, 100 percent. I love Michelle. And Ellen, too. She's an icon.

Ally: It's sad that we live on opposite sides of the country. I really wish she lived closer.

Erin: But we're totally gonna keep in touch during the year.

Ally: And meet back up at EXPLO at Yale next summer!
