EXPLO students become celebrities for the evening at our Hollywood-themed Closing Ceremonies extravaganza. Students dress to the nines for a night of photos, awards, music, and friendship — not to mention the announcement of Phoenix victory in the House Cup! After the festivities, students make their way to the South Lawn to dance the night away and revel in the memories of what's been another extraordinary EXPLO summer.
The final Trivia Night of the summer was a big hit amongst students — some being old hands at Trivia Night, opting to test their knowledge whenever we have Evening Experiences, while some were first-time trivia participants. New and old trivia-goers were equally as successful, with each and every team proving victorious against the team of staff members and thus earning a coveted "Smarter than a Staff Member" pin for their lanyards.
Mentalism card tricks, sleight of hand, and lots of audience involvement encapsulates The Magic of Alexo Evening Event. Students are wowed as Alexo, magician, swallows sewing needles, materializes a bird, and even reads their minds.
Students head to the theatre for a Family Feud game show contest. What's the best dining hall treat? Who actually works in the OSL (Office of Student Life)? Which house will win the house cup? These were just some of the questions for students to answer.
It's every player for themselves out on the softball field for Colorfest, a merciless battle with dye-soaked sponges. Red, yellow, blue, and green dye fly every which way until the white t-shirts students started out with are covered in color.
For one night each session, The Lawn becomes EXPLOstock — an evening event like no other. The joy on campus was palpable all evening as students played games, did crafts, painted their faces, and sang and danced their hearts out to some open mic performances by their peers.
Explosé is an opportunity for students to showcase their talents — and that they did. Week Two's event was complete with ballads, rap battles, ballet, salsa dancing, and lots of cheering and support from the audience.
Students gather in the Art Room for Open Art Studio, where they create clay-sculpted figures, portrait drawings, friendship bracelets, slime, tissue paper flowers, and anything else their imagination dreams up.
Reisinger Concert Hall was electric during one of the most anticipated evening events of the session: Night at the Races! With an abundance of house points at stake, students brought their A-game to a plethora of hilarious challenges.
