The Origins of Iggy
Our students asked for a way to start "meeting" their fellow students before arriving on campus. So we answered — with the Iggy Project. Prior to arriving each summer, students and faculty are asked to share with the Explo community a photo that (a) includes Iggy the Explorer, Explo's original logo; (b) shows a little about who they are and where they're from; and (c) is awesome. Check out this year's crop of Iggy photos on our Iggy microsite.

It's not often we get a glimpse of the inner sanctum of the U.S. Department of State, so we're thrilled that Inna Pletukhina, Explo Foreign Affairs instructor and Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, decided to give Iggy an inside look.

Here he is meeting Thomas Melia, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor:

And hobnobbing with Judy Heumann, Special Advisor for International Disability Rights:

Through it all, Iggy met many fascinating people, delved into the world of international diplomacy, and put his stamp on U.S. foreign policy (we're just kidding about this last part). Thanks to Inna Pletukhina for the wonderful tour! We're looking forward to seeing her on campus this summer.
