Living groups are one of the most important communities-within-a-community at EXPLO. Many students have arrived, connecting with the students that will live in their halls, connect with over breakfast, and support throughout the summer.
The atmosphere at EXPLO radiates with energy as students arrive for First Session. Luggage is given a home, IDs are delivered, and an abundance of smiling faces are greeted by EXPLO staff. Here is to an exciting journey of choice, community, and courage at EXPLO!
EXPLO Ambassadors, select student alums who serve as leaders in the community throughout the session, arrive! Reconnections, new friendship, group energy, laugh, hugs filled up the campus. During Ambassador Orientation, Ambassadors discuss roles of leadership and courage at EXPLO. They end their training with some well-deserved ice cream in New Haven proper.
After a winter and spring of curriculum and professional development, EXPLO staff take part in a week-long orientation prior to the arrival of students this summer. Featuring interactive training, discussions, and keynote speakers, orientation not only allows staff to connect over shared EXPLO pedagogy, but also trains faculty on the nuts and bolts of running a world-class summer program.
As the summer comes to a close, students showcase the acts, dances, skits, and videos they've been working on all session long.
