Skateboarder Lucas's name means 'someone who brings light into the world,' and he does just that in our EXPLO community. He's exploring careers in architecture with a goal of working on affordable housing projects in the future.
I am not entirely sure why I got my name, but I do know what it means. It means someone who brings light into the world, and I think I do justice to my name as much as possible. I generally do not enjoy seeing people upset, unhappy, or struggling. Maybe my mom gave me my name because I am her only child, but I do try to actively bring light into the world.
I want to be an architect when I'm older. It is a very technical job but I believe it will still allow me to help people. I want to work with people to provide affordable housing. I think everybody deserves a roof over their head. There is a Habitat for Humanity near my house that I couldn't work at because I was too young — but I just turned 16, so when I am done with EXPLO I'm going to volunteer there.
I want to learn as much as possible about architecture. Before coming here it was a passion I pursued from afar. I never really got involved seriously, but with this new Architecture class I'm taking I am doing the things I used to admire others doing — and that has to be one of the greatest things to happen to me so far.
