Being creative and curious, Kira explores courses in art and psychology. She talks about her personal interests and the experiences she’s had at Explo this year.

I really like anything that involves creativity and I am also interested in psychology, so I’m taking Criminal Psychology and Public Art. I’ve done art since I was very little, and I’ve always been creative, but psychology is more of a new thing. I just find it very interesting how people think

The classes at Explo are great. They are hands-on, you are engaged, the classes are always small enough for you to interact with people around you, and the focus is on each individual. There’s an atmosphere at Explo has that is happy, open, and always friendly.

I really enjoy my classes. We debate about topics like motives and what causes people to do crimes. We talk about certain cases and the way you are brought up and where you live can affect what you do and why you do it. Once I learned about, it seemed really thought-provoking.

It’s a lot better learning experience than regular school, I think. There’s an atmosphere at Explo has that is happy, open, and always friendly.

[What's my favorite art form?] I like painting, mostly. I paint abstract pictures and different scenes. I’m inspired by nature and the things that I see and do. I remember when I was five years old, I woke up at around six in the morning and I went downstairs. I got every paint bottle that we had and I just spread it all over this one piece of paper and I cut fabric to put on there. I remember really loving it. It was a big thing for me. My mom still has it. My parents always support me with all of my creativity.
