As an aspiring businesswoman, rising senior Khushi looks to her father for inspiration. She was moved and motivated by guest speaker Sarah Law's talk about entrepreneurship.
My father is a businessman, and I want to follow his path. Also, I love fashion and have always wanted to pursue something like that. Ever since I was young I’ve dreamt of creating my own fashion line. I want to connect business and fashion and see if that’s something I can pursue in college.
In Sarah Law’s presentation, she recounted her experiences in high school, and how she has become the entrepreneur she is today. She’s young, so I could understand her and relate to the points she made. I joined EXPLO to find myself and see if I really want to pursue business in college. There’s something about business management that inspires me. I want to grow up to be an entrepreneur.
It really inspired me that Sarah's father was not in favor of her going to fashion school; my dad doesn’t particularly want me going into fashion either, so I really connected with her story.
However, my father is really supportive of me going into business. I feel that, once I develop my future plans more, he’ll be just as excited as I am. To me, following his path is a connection to my family. I’ll always be connected to my dad in that way. He’s there with me if I have any downfalls in the future. I can count on him; he’s been my guidance and my leader throughout high school so far, and I know he’ll continue helping me pursue my dreams.
