Katherine is from Italy and Julietta is from Venezuela. Just getting back from the Main Event (dance) on campus, these two friends just had to be interviewed together!

Julietta:
What I most enjoyed about Explo is seeing new material in subjects that I’ve never seen before. That has really helped me to know if I want to study that [those subjects] when I’m older. I am taking Investment Methods. I didn’t know anything about it and when I got there it really surprised me that even though there were older students [in my class], they didn’t know anything about it, like me, so we sort of learned at the same time. I didn’t feel left out because we all started out together.

I also took First Aid Training and Certification because I’m really interested in becoming a doctor. I really wanted to see what it’s like just being in the beginning of life saving. It helped me to see if that’s what I want to do in the long term because it’s a really dedicated major. I also like meeting new friends and seeing things you’re not used to seeing. It has helped me become a more open person.

Katherine:
I really enjoy the people here. I’ve noticed that there are so many different personalities and cultures because a lot of people come from different parts of the world. Everyone has different experiences and ways of interpreting things.

One thing I have really enjoyed at Explo are the classes. My first period I’m taking First Aid Training and Certification, which is something new that I’ve always wanted to do. My second period I am taking Anatomy and Physiology, which I am enjoying because of my teacher, Lauren. She’s amazing!!! I enjoy the class because there are so many fun activities and we’ve been doing a bunch of different dissections; my favorite was the sheep heart. I love the people in that class. I really enjoy it. I took that class just to explore.

I find that Explo is called Explo for exploring your beyond: what you are interested in, what you think could be your future, or your major in college. I feel that Explo helps you and it really opens your world. It helps you learn and it opens you to new material, new information, and new experiences. I’ve enjoyed Explo with all of my friends. It’s amazing to live with so many people. My living group is amazing. And our RA’s are amazing. I really enjoy all the people. It’s my first time at a summer program and I’m really enjoying it.
