Jasper has a kind heart and a strong passion to help animals. Working on many ongoing projects, he's also taking the initiative to partner with the Explo Common Good Project.
I like to do a lot of stuff with animals. I work at a zoo and do music and art related to them. I’ve always had a passion for animals, so I really want to help do something for them. I feel like a lot of people don’t appreciate animals as much, so I really want to help them and do conservation and stuff like that. [Later on] I want to possibly have a rehabilitation center for injured animals in the area, but also do like a wider scale conservation program for endangered species.
Here, I like to take classes that aren’t exactly what I normally do, so I could learn new things. I'm taking Editing + Publishing and Costume Design. My courses are going really well. I’ve learned a lot from all of them. Even things that I thought I knew about, I’ve been learning a lot of new techniques in. I think a lot of writing I learn from Editing + Publishing could be put towards animals and writing books about conservation. In our first class, when we had our futuristic writer biographies, I wrote how in thirty years as a writer, I’ve written children’s books about animals, just to educate next generations about how animals need help.
For the Common Good Project, I am proposing to make shirts. I draw animals on a digital software program — I did a pangolin and I’m working on a sloth right now — and I want to put those on shirts and sell them and use the money to go towards animal conservation. I’m hoping to get the money from the Common Good Project to put it towards the first batch of shirts. I would put half the money I gain for more shirts and half the money for the animals.
