At 15 years old, Emely has dreams of being a speech language pathologist or an audiologist. She’s engaging in experiences at EXPLO to prepare herself to study in this field someday.

I know some sign language. Admittedly, I learned it off the internet, but I find it incredibly interesting. I want to work with people who are deaf and hearing impaired in the future, which is why I’m so curious about the language.

In my country, being a speech language pathologist or an audiologist aren’t very well-known professions. My goal is to piece together as many applicable experiences as possible in order to get a good idea if this is the path I want to go down.

At the moment, I’m taking a psychopathology course here. I’m getting a better grasp as to how one individual’s mind will function versus the next person’s.  It’s really interesting to be able to study this in the context of psychopathology, because it presents us with a deeper understanding of the intricacies of the human brain that are beyond just the facts.
