Jun 23, 2018 Conversation EXPLO Pre-College + Career

Meet Calista from Taiwan

EXPLO Banker Calista is proof perfect that it's never too late to explore your interests. When she discovered in college that a career in political science and economics suited her better than becoming a doctor, she courageously changed course — and as a result has found a sense of purpose.

EXPLO Banker Calista is proof perfect that it's never too late to explore your interests. When she discovered in college that a career in political science and economics suited her better than becoming a doctor, she courageously changed course — and as a result has found a sense of purpose.

I wish I would have taken more chances and have done more exploring with academics and the social aspect when I was younger. Since I was young, I always believed that I would be a doctor. When I went to college, I started to take more classes and join more clubs, and it really opened up my mind.

I decided during college that being a doctor is not really for me. I don't want to take eight more years of school, and I became really interested in political science and economics. I've always wanted to help people with my future job, and I don't think that doing medicine is the best way for me. I'm good at math and writing, I'm good at adapting situations, and I always have the will and discipline to keep working. I find my skill set more useful and I can apply them better in political science and economics.
