For rising senior Alexandra, EXPLO has become an opportunity to branch out beyond her career track and explore new passions and interests.
Why Stage Makeup class? Well, when I’m in school, I tend to doodle on my friends’ arms and they get pretty elaborate. I have a reputation for it, actually. I don’t really have much more of a reason than that, but I want to see myself trying new things and exploring new passions that I develop along the way.
I have this dream of one day building a rocket for NASA. It’s not the first thing I want to do, but it’s a great goal to strive for in my lifetime. I can work towards something, but why would I stop there? I could be doing so many other things at the same time. It’s because of EXPLO that I’d now define myself as someone who seeks out new experiences. I wasn’t like that before.
The first year I was here, I signed myself up for a set of courses and workshops that fit exactly with my career goals. But once everything started, I began finding so many new interests. I made it a point to come back this year and take a variety of classes that fulfilled my curiosity. It’s why I’m here taking stage makeup.
