Alex is an aspiring scientist who makes it her goal this year to learn about more about the human brain. But this being her third year at Explo, that’s not the only reason she’s here!

I am taking Psychopathology and Anatomy + Physiology as my courses. I’ve always been really interested in science and both of my parents have PhDs in psychology, so I’ve been just really interested with the whole human brain. My mom would come home and talk about people she had to work with. Everyone on the outside doesn’t understand what they’re going through, and I thought that it would be important to try and understand. This is my first psychology class.

I’ve always really liked Explo. I make a lot of friends and keep in touch with them — it’s so cool to reunite with them. The classes you can take are really cool and they find ways to make it fun and very hands-on, and that’s what I like about it. My first class was really fun and I really like my teacher. In my Psychopathology, class we were talking about some topics like eating disorders, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and similar things. These were all topics that I’m really interested in learning — things that I don’t know much about and want to learn more of. My teacher was really fun. She’s just someone I feel comfortable with. Anatomy + Physiology was very interesting, and we’re going to do some dissections later on, which I’m really excited for!

[This year at Explo] I just want to have fun, make a bunch of new friends, and learn a lot about the human body and the human mind and brain.
