Meet Sofia from Moldova

Sofia from Moldova talks Explo, friendships, and books.

Ally Marcino

Some may think that making such a far trip to Explo is a scary thing, but Sofia is a pro and has been doing it for four summers! Read on to see what keeps her coming back.

This is my fourth year at Explo and fifth time in the U.S. I keep coming back to Explo because every year I get lots of happy memories and I want to make more memories with my friends and instructors! My friends always stand out in my memories. We always keep in touch after Explo to remember all the funny moments we’ve had together here. During my time here, I’ve learned that friendship is very important and that you should always try to be happy because everything that happens, happens for a reason.

In my free time at Explo, I usually am hanging out with my friends or reading a book. I like to read horror and drama. I don’t have a favorite author because there are so many books that are just all different and interesting. But I do like the Harry Potter books and The Girl on the Train. I think I read more than fifty books a year. Usually I read the books I like rather than the ones I’m assigned. Actually, I started to write a book, but I deleted it because I didn’t like it. I started writing about supernatural things. If I wrote a book, I would want it to be a horror, but I don’t think I’ll continue to write books.
