Keep your eyes peeled, because the next YouTube sensation may very well be at Explo at Wellesley. With big dreams of moving out to the West Coast as a graphic designer or video editor, Sam hopes that he can transform his amateur video making from a hobby into a lifelong career.

Videos give you the ultimate freedom to say or do whatever you want. In my videos, I recreate music videos from songs where the lyrics are kind of ambiguous, and then I type out what I think they're actually saying and I act out my new lyrics on the screen.

I've been a long time subscriber of this one YouTube channel, but I only recently entered a video contest where the channel had a video contest. I made a video and the creator commented on it, put my link into his video, and I went from 300 subscribers to 1,500 in just a few days.

At Explo, I'm taking a course where we have to make a 30-second commercial. I'm learning a lot about how important it is to keep your audience focused and grab their attention, which is something I definitely think can help improve my own videos. Explo is unique because there's a lot more creative freedom than at school. At school, you learn based on a strict lesson plan, but at Explo, you go to class and the instructors really ask you, "what do you want to learn in class?" And then they teach it!

What would I say if I could give one piece of advice for people who want to try making new videos? Well, I'd say, "just do it!" You're never going to get anything done until you go and try it, so what's stopping you?
