By combining her love for basketball and strong interest in the sciences, Matilda is living her dream at Explo Ortho.
Explo is a dream for me, because I get to learn everything I want to learn about sports and rehabilitation medicine, in two weeks. I like how we’re not just watching videos or reading textbooks here; we’re actually doing the hands-on work and activities and I definitely learn best that way. So far, I’ve learned so much about the knees and different ligaments in the lower extremities. In just the past week, I learned how to tape an ankle, suture, and today we’re dissecting a heart!
My favorite activity so far has been learning how to tape an ankle. I always wanted to learn because I play basketball and my friends always ask me how to do it, so now maybe I can help someone. I want to go into Sports Medicine when I grow up. I either want to be an athletic trainer or a physical therapist because even if I don’t have the ability to play sports anymore, I can help others who are just as passionate as I am to get them back on the court doing what they love.
