With a sketchpad never out of reach and influences from Georgia O'Keeffe swirling through her mind, Grace hopes that her passion for art and guidance from Explo instructors can help her transform her drawings and paintings into masterpieces. She enjoys the independence and vast campus at Wellesley, even if it means taking a few extra steps and getting a little lost along the way to get to where she needs to be.

I think the reason why art is so special is because there is no end to what you can do with it. Art is everything to me. My favorite medium to work with would probably be pastels because you can blend them to make a painting look so realistic that you can touch it. My own art is really inspired by comic-book styles, which is why I would love to be a graphic illustrator when I grow up, but I'm definitely open to trying new things.

Explo has been so helpful for my art because I'm able to go to the art room any chance that I get, and get to work with instructors who specialize in all different types of art. There are so many different courses that have to do with art — Guerilla Art, Graffiti Art, Abstract Art, Henna — I wish I could take all of them! In my one class, we're making an entire face as a class. Each person creates a little piece and puts it together to make a whole picture that can be really beautiful. By letting me learn about all so many types of art, I think Explo is really helping me figure out which I like best and what I want to do as a professional artist.
