Meet Francisco from Brazil

Explo at Wellesley. Student Interview. This Dungeon Master talks about how important play is in his life.

Ally Marcino

Although it may seem as though he has already traveled far, the distance from Wellesley to Brazil is nothing compared to how far Francisco's mind can reach. This Dungeon Master talks about how important play is in his life.

This is my first prolonged visit in the United States. I like that the people are very nice and the food is very good. The people are really the most of it. They care a lot about you. I’ve met a lot of those people here at Explo.

I love all the courses and workshops. I wish there was more space for courses and workshops too. I would love to take more! The courses and workshops offered at Explo are just very interesting. It’s a unique experience I’m getting here.

I love to hang out with my friends and go to the quad and play Frisbee with my free time. When I’m home I really like to play videogames, but at Explo we can’t... but I just like to play in general. I like board games as well. During recreational activities, I like to play Dungeons and Dragons, and some of the games they keep in the games studio — and UNO!

Sometimes I am the Dungeon Master in Dungeons and Dragons. It’s quite challenging. I like to come up with the story and the obstacles. I have some experience being the Dungeon Master. My first time being the Dungeon Master, it was at school back in Brazil. Then I didn’t play it for a while. But now I’m doing the Role-Playing Game Design, and it’s really nice. We get to play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons and I got to be the Dungeon Master again, and I’ve done pretty well I think.
