If you accidentally get lost on a stroll in the woods, this Explo at Wellesley newcomer could help use his wilderness survival skills to navigate your way home towards survival. When he's not exploring the great outdoors, Dylan enjoys a pick-up soccer game with friends.

I didn't know very much about surviving in the wilderness before coming into the class, but now, I feel like I'd have so many skills to draw on if I was ever in that kind of situation in the wild. Throughout the class, we learned about the best places to build a shelter, how to purify dirty water, and even catch fish without bait. I also learned about triaging, which is when you decide which tasks should get done first to make sure you survive. I really understood how important it is to find water, seek shelter, and build a fire a long time before nightfall.

If I could give a piece of advice that could help people who get stuck in the wilderness to survive, I'd make sure they know how important it is to keep connected to the people with you. Teamwork and trust are so important in surviving in life, if you're stranded on a desert island or even if you just need help completing a task. It's one of the first things they teach us here at Explo.

Even though it's my first summer, Explo is already a special place for me. There's the people that come from all over the world all hanging out and sharing ideas and thoughts. And then, there's the interesting classes. You can learn how to catch a fish in Wilderness Survival in the morning and then learn to cook a recipe to cook it for lunch the next in Cooking Challenges. The best part of Explo is that you're free; free to learn whatever you want and free to be yourself.
