Carly is thirteen years old and she’s fond of cooking. She can’t wait to open her own bakery — Carly’s Cupcakes!
I want to become a chef one day. It’s lots of fun to create dishes and make food. I’ve always had a big interest for it. I like to experiment with different recipes, change them and make my own versions of them. I love making desserts, especially cupcakes and pancakes. My favorite cupcake is vanilla with chocolate frosting. The best thing about cooking is making the food — I just have so much fun while doing it, getting all the ingredients and mixing them together. I can’t really even say why I like it so much, but it just makes me so excited all the time! I cook a lot at home, sometimes alone but sometimes with my mom, so it’s also a way for us to bond.
In the future I want to open my own bakery and sell cupcakes and cookies. When I was younger I used to pretend that I own my own bakery and I called it Carly’s Cupcakes, so maybe I’ll go with that name. But I still have a lot to learn. I’m taking the Cooking Challenges course here at EXPLO and I’ve learned a lot — for example I’ve learned how to cook chicken. First we learned how to cut it and how long should you fry it in the pan, and then we went through different recipes like teriyaki chicken and breadcrumb chicken.
But the most exciting thing that has happened here at EXPLO is definitely meeting people from all over the world and becoming close with them and getting to know them. I’m from a town in New York and it’s just this bubble of the same people. Here I’ve been meeting new people from Poland, and Spain, and Greece, and it’s been so awesome! I wish to make lifelong friends with whom I’d stay in touch for a long time.
