In his fourth summer at Explo, this Explo Student Ambassador shares what it means to be an independent thinker, and offers advice to Explo newcomers about how to find their own magical moments this summer.

This summer will be my fourth year at Explo (my second at Wellesley). I’ve always enjoyed Explo because it’s an environment that’s really fun for both new people and returning students as well. I’m looking forward to my Medical Careers class because I’ve always found medicine to be so interesting and can’t wait to actually have the chance to explore it. Right now, I’m looking at going into a medical career and I think Explo will help me discover if it’s the right path for me.

I’ve also been really thinking about going into sports or sports reporting or even being a news anchor. I’m taking the Sports and Debate course, which I think will really help me know which road to pursue. I think having all these options will help me grow as a person and that by the end of the summer, I’ll have a greater sense of my own independence by being able to choose things that I like for myself.

Being an Ambassador to me means trying to help new students to see the magic in Explo. In my first year, an Ambassador helped show me the magic through his perspectives, and I really want to give that to new students. One piece of advice I’d give to first-timers at Explo would be to put yourself out there! Just be yourself and there’s no way that people won’t accept you in this community.
