Antonio will be entering eighth grade this fall with his best friend Alejandro. They've been together since birth and are here at EXPLO together, too.

Friendship means having someone in your life who is loyal, kind, caring towards you, and feels the way that you do around them. The reason I’m here is because of my friend Alejandro. He told me EXPLO was really cool and it was worth it. It feels really cool to be able to go to a summer program in the U.S. with him. He’s just a really nice guy and that loyal friend you can always count on; the person that will always be there for you when you need some help. I’ve been on crutches for four days and some things are more difficult to do, but with him, things are easier to overcome. When he needs me and I need him, he’s there for me and I’m there for him. I’ve been with him all my life, since we were born. Our parents had the same relationship since they were born. They were best friends like me and Alejandro.

I’m making new friends, too, from other countries like Greece, Hong Kong, Brazil, Spain, and Puerto Rico. It’s cool to make friends from different places. Sometimes it’s hard to communicate, but you get around it because we all speak English. In Guatemala, it’s mostly just Guatemalans. I’m glad I came here because I get to meet new people, make new friends.
