Annabelle is here for a second year in a row and can't wait to make even more friends than last year!

I really enjoy drama. I do a lot of plays at school and next year I will be in the school’s musical. I also directed a play last year. It was an adaption of a book called Wonder, which is about a kid who has facial birth defects. It’s a story about how he goes to school for the first time and how people react to him. I directed it together with a friend and it was a lot of fun! We had two performances and when the lights finally went down after the first time, we were a bit scared, but everything went really well. It was performed at our school, so it was nothing major, but still such an exciting experience.

I like drama because I really enjoy becoming someone else. I’m playing Kurt from “The Sound of Music,” who is one of the kids, and I’ve played young Heathcliff from “Wuthering Heights,” and also a flamingo in the school junior play. Drama is great because you make so many friends through it and you meet people who you otherwise wouldn’t necessarily meet, as well as people who are older and younger than you, which is also very nice. It’s awesome to be part of these amazing productions that everyone puts so much work into; it’s just such an interesting commitment because it's always different and it changes each time.

But in the future I think there are two roads to go down for me — I’d either like to be a surgeon or a human rights lawyer. The courses I’m taking here are Mock Trial and Bacterial Epidemiology. I’m more excited about Mock Trial, but I’m really looking forward to Bacterial Epidemiology as well because I don’t know what it’s going to be like. I’ve been to EXPLO before, but this summer I’m excited about getting to know people really well and making proper friends. Last year we went to the Six Flags amusement park — I had never been on a proper rollercoaster before and my friends convinced me to go on a really big one that was spinning very fast. I went on that and it was SO amazing! I was so glad that I did it, although it looked so scary at first.

I think EXPLO is a great place where you can learn so many new things. You get to meet people from all over the world who have such different personalities and everyone has their own interests and things that they love. I made some friends last year who are also here now, so I’m excited to see them again.
