Read on to find out how Explo is helping Alexa discover what she want to be when she grows up.

This is my first year [at Explo] and I am loving it! I’m taking Interior Remodeling and Criminal Investigations. Mainly, I chose my courses because I already had an interest in them. They help me to think about what I want to be when I grow up. I’m thinking I could be a detective, a lawyer, or an interior designer now that I’m taking these courses. I think Explo does a really good job of preparing you for a career. Like in Criminal Investigations, we’re learning how to tell if a person is lying or not. And in Interior Modeling, we’re learning how to build a house.

These courses are really interesting, and both of the instructors make it really fun. The instructors are really understanding about how we all want to have fun and learn new things. They interact with the students a lot and create a lot of fun activities for us to do. A lot of people would think that Explo is like school, and wouldn’t want to do it. But it’s not like school and it’s not like camp. It’s somewhere in the middle, and that’s why I like it so much. You’re learning so much, but you’re also really enjoying yourself.

In my free time, I like to do improv and hang out with my friends. At home, I would usually just play on my phone a lot, which is kind of bad. But I like how I get to do different things here because I don’t have my phone. I get to interact with the world more. I like to do improv because it’s very interesting when you're just put on the spot and words just have to fall out of your mouth. I have done some of my school plays, but nothing too serious. I tend to get a little stage fright — but that’s why I like improv so much because it helps me with that.
