Ever wonder what it's like to live in a large city? How about a town with only a few hundred people? Read on to hear from Aidan, who has done both.
I play basketball, football, and rodeo. I don’t have rodeo stuff at my house, but when there are rodeos, I sometimes like to do them. I don’t do full time rodeo like some of my friends do, but I do cow stuff and horse stuff sometimes. You ride horses and cows, I milk cows, my brother does branding, and I go and watch sometimes. I don’t have a job on the ranch yet, but I want to. My whole town has less people than this program does. Adjusting is not too hard because I’ve lived in a city before, so I’m okay with being around this many people. I like the city. It’s fun to take vacations there. But the country is nice because it’s quiet and everybody knows you. I might want to move to LA when I grow up, but also maybe Nebraska or Kansas.
I want to be a mechanical engineer when I grow up. I like mechanics — I like cars and I liked going fast and engines that make loud noises — but my grandma says that she wants me to be an engineer so I’m going to do mechanical engineering. My grandmother and I are close. We just moved into a house next to hers. I’m not taking any engineering classes here, though. I’m taking more creative classes. I’m learning new stuff with technology and acting here, and I like acting. I’m in Improvisational Acting and that’s even more fun than acting with scripts.
I think my favorite thing about Explo has been being a leader on my floor. I’m making the floor rules and I’m kind of an influence on my floor. I’m learning to be a role model here at Explo.
