Celebrated Screenwriter J.V. Hart to Join EXPLO as Professor of Practice

With writing and producing credits including Steven Spielberg’s Hook, Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and Brian Henson’s Muppet Treasure Island to his name, EXPLO welcomes acclaimed screenwriter J.V. Hart to campus in summer 2018.

EXPLO students will train on Hart’s diagnostic tool, HartChart, which helps writers wrestle with screenplay challenges including structure, pacing, dialogue, characters that won’t behave, and writer's block.

David Magee, Oscar-nominated Writer of Life of Pi and Finding Neverland, says:

“Jim’s charts demonstrate the importance of story structure and tracking the emotional journey of the protagonist — and time and again, I’ve seen his analysis completely transform writers’ understanding of their scripts.”

Hart will join EXPLO as a Professor of Practice, and will teach a master class for students enrolled in Creative Writing, Writing for Stage + Screen, Short Form Creative Writing, and The Art of Storytelling at both Session One (July 11) and Session Two (July 24). Students will receive the HartChart Toolkit to extend their creative explorations far beyond the summer.
